Financial Ombudsman Service

Has been set up by law as a single port of call for consumers with complaints against financial firms. It covers most areas of personal finance, from insurance and pension complaints to bank accounts and investments.

Financial Services Complaints Commissioner

Deals with complaints about the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and residual complaints about their predecessor, the Financial Services Authority (FSA). They also deal with complaints about the Bank of England in respect of its oversight of the banking clearing houses and payment settlement schemes.

Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme for the Isle of Man

Is a free, independent dispute resolution service for customers with a complaint about financial services provided in or from the Isle of Man. Financial services include insurance, investments, banking, mortgages and credit as well as pension and other financial advice. Customers can be based anywhere in the world.

Financial Services Ombudsman, Ireland

Considers complaints from customers of all licensed Banks and Building Societies, Credit Unions, insurance companies, customers of brokers and all other regulated financial service providers arising from services which have been provided within the State. The existing voluntary Ombudsman for the Credit Institutions and the Insurance Ombudsman of Ireland schemes are incorporated into the Bureau. Existing complaints still in process will be carried forward to the statutory scheme. Maximum award 250,000.

Furniture Ombudsman

The Furniture Ombudsman, operated by the Dispute Resolution Ombudsman Ltd, is an independent not-for-profit organisation which helps to raise standards and resolve disputes between consumers and retailers. The service was established in 1992 with the support of government and many of the UKs largest retailers are registered with it. Their jurisdiction extends to disputes arising out of goods and services purchased in approximately 4,500 retail outlets and via the internet. A Standards Board comprising of individuals from Trading Standards, Citizens Advice and the retail sector help to preserve its effectiveness, independence and impartiality. Many of The Furniture Ombudsman's dispute resolution staff are legally and professionally qualified and its work is recognised by the European Commission, Trading Standards and Citizens Advice.
