Working with organisations to generate evidence and inform policy and service development.

Mary Anne Webb

Mary Anne Webb is an independent researcher, working with organisations to generate evidence and inform policy and service development. She brings over thirty years’ experience in the voluntary and community
sector, delivering and improving services for children and families. This includes twenty years in policy roles, most recently Mencap NI (Head of Policy and Influencing), Barnardo’s NI, and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY).

Her research spans early intervention, child protection, youth work, and employment, with a strong emphasis
on inclusive engagement. She consults people with learning disabilities, families with multiple and complex needs, and young people, to ensure their voices shape services. Mary Anne has produced good
practice guidance for public bodies on learning from complaints. She is currently developing guidance on promoting positive engagement in complaints settings; and good practice guides on embedding a
just, open, and learning culture in health and social care.
