Public Sector Ombudsman Review - Ethics & Integrity Commission

The Ombudsman Association welcomes the Ethics & Integrity Commission’s review of the public sector ombudsman landscape and the opportunity to contribute to its call for evidence.

• We support reforms that strengthen the ability of public sector ombudsman to identify and address systemic failings, including the introduction of own-initiative investigation powers and a stronger focus on institutional learning alongside individual redress. 
• We also call for improved public access to ombudsman services, greater consistency across schemes, and modernisation of the legal framework to ensure ombudsmen can operate effectively, independently, and in line with international best practice.
