Demonstrating the value and impact of Ombudsman services

8 October 2026 marks Ombuds Day, an opportunity to raise awareness of the role Ombudsman services play in promoting fairness, accountability and trust, while helping people understand when an Ombudsman can help.

This year, the Ombudsman Association and its members are highlighting the value and impact of Ombudsman services through a range of voices from government, academia, consumer advocacy and the legal sector.

About Ombuds Day

Ombuds Day is an opportunity for Ombudsman services to come together and promote greater public understanding of:

  • The role of Ombudsman services.
  • The value and impact of independent complaint resolution.
  • When an Ombudsman can help.
  • How Ombudsman services contribute to fairness, accountability and trust.

Across the UK, Ireland, Crown Dependencies, Overseas Territories (and beyond!), Ombudsman services help resolve disputes, improve services and provide an independent route to redress when things go wrong.
