Dr. Salome Mbugua, CEO of AkiDwA, is a renowned researcher, gender equality activist, and human rights advocate with over 20 years of experience working with marginalized groups, particularly women, children, and youth across Europe, Africa, and internationally. Her expertise lies in policy development, strategic planning, project development, and implementation monitoring. She has contributed significantly to policy development in Ireland and the EU, chairing the working group on Ireland’s 3rd National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security. 

Dr. Mbugua has engaged with various governmental departments and agencies, presented at the Council of Europe, and serves on multiple advisory committees and boards. Notably, she chairs the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion project board with Public Appointment Services in Ireland and is the Co-President of the European Network of Migrant Women. With over 300 presentations globally, she is a prominent public speaker on gender, equality, migration, and related issues.
